Which deputates received the largest compensation in the 14th Saeima?

The remuneration structure for deputies in the 14th Saeima includes provisions for expenses such as transportation and rent, which are provided even to members who do not reside in Riga. The established compensation limits are structured to increase proportionally with the geographical distance from the capital city. While specific details regarding which deputies have received the absolute largest compensation figures are subject to public reporting, the matter has drawn attention due to the amounts received by some members.

For instance, Līga Kozlovska (ZZS), a deputy representing Balvi and the head of the Latvian Rural Family Doctors Association, has been reported to have received compensation totaling nearly €40,000 over a four-year period. This total was comprised of approximately €32,800 designated for rent and €6,820 for transportation costs. Kozlovska, who owns two properties, currently rents a flat in Old Riga for €800 per month.

She has stated that her high professional workload requires her to maintain temporary accommodation. The provision of such financial support underscores the institutional support provided to parliamentarians regarding their living and travel expenses. Despite the public scrutiny surrounding these payments, some of the deputies who have accumulated the highest compensation amounts have reportedly responded to inquiries with reluctance.

The system ensures that deputies are financially supported regardless of their primary residence location relative to Riga.
